Dial-Up Connection
Setup
Find your Operating
System below and follow those instructions.
Win95/98/ME
1. Start Computer
2. Make sure
you are at the Desktop
3. Double Click
on My Computer
4. Double click
on Dial-up Networking
5. Double click
on make new connection
6. When a new
connection Dialog box comes up: Type Sonnek in the name of the computer
you’re dialing box
7. Make sure
the name of the modem is the modem installed in your computer
8. Click next
9. The Area
code box should have 763 in it.
10. The Phone
number should be 271-2551 if that is local for you. Enter in 263-9963
if you are in the Big Lake area.
11. The country
code should say United States of America (1)
12. Click Next
13. Click Finish
14. This will
bring you back to the Dial-up networking Box and you should see
a new Icon named Sonnek.
15. Right click
on the Sonnek icon you just created and go to Create a Shortcut.
16. Say yes
to the message that appears
17. Close out
of all windows and double click on the Short-cut to Sonnek
18. Enter in
your username and password and click connect.
19. Once it
connects, go ahead and open your Internet browser (Internet Explorer
or Netscape most likely) and begin surfing the Internet!
NT 4.0 Setup
Instructions
1. Double Click
on My Computer
2. Double Click
on Dial-up Networking
3. Enter Sonnek
Communications
4. Click Next
5. Check box
that says I am calling the Internet
6. Click Next
7. The Phone
number should be 763-271-2551 if that is local for you. Enter in
763-263-9963 if you are in the Big Lake area.
8. Click Next
9. Click Finish
10. Click More
11. Click Edit

12. Click Server

13. Click TCP/IP
settings
14. Check specify
name server
15. Change Primary
DNS to: 207.195.208.1
16. Change Secondary
DNS to : 207.195.208.2
17. Click Add
18. Click OK
19. Click Security
Tab
20. Check box
Accept any authentication including clear text
21. Click OK
All the other
tabs should be set with the default information
Windows 2000
1. Right Click
on the My Network Places icon located on your desktop and select
Properties
2. Double click
on the Make New Connection icon
3. Click Next
4. Choose Dial-Up
to the Internet and Click Next
5. Choose I
want to set up my connection manually (the third option) and click
Next
6. Choose I
connect through a phone line and modem and click Next
7. Enter for
the area code 763 and then for the phone number type in 271-2551
if that number is local for you or enter in 263-9963 if you are
in the Big Lake area.
8. Click Next
9. Type in Sonnek
for the ISP name and click Next
10. Click Finish
11. Right click
on the Sonnek icon you just created and go to Create a Shortcut.
12. Say yes
to the message that appears
13. Close out
of all windows and double click on the Short-cut to Sonnek
14. Enter in
your username and password and click connect.
15. Once it
connects, go ahead and open your Internet browser (Internet Explorer
or Netscape most likely) and begin surfing the Internet!
Configuring Windows XP
1. Go to Start
2. Mouse over
Connect to
3. Pull Down
to Show all Connections
4. Chose Create
New Connection (located in upper left hand sidebar)
5. The New Connection
Wizard Should Open
6. Click Next
7. Click Connect
to the Internet
8. Click Next
9. Click Set
up my connection Manually
10. Click Next
11. Connect
using Dial up Modem
12. Click Next
13. Enter Internet
Service Provider's Name: Soncom.com
14. Click Next
15. The Phone
number should be 763-271-2551 if that is local for you. Enter in
763-263-9963 if you are in the Big Lake area.
16. Click Next
17. Prompt will
ask for whom this connection is available, you can decide which
is best for you
18. Click Next
19. Enter Username,
all lowercase
20. Enter Password
21. Reenter
Password
22. Deselect
the use INTERNET FIREWALL option (leaving it on may cause browsing
issues)
23. Click Next
24. The Completing
new Connection Dialog box should open, Confirm all information
25. Click Finish
Mac OS 8
and Up
1. Open the
Internet folder or the Assistants folder on the hard drive.
2. Double click
the Internet Setup Assistant icon
3. Click the
update button
4. Click the
right arrow at the bottom right corner to continue
5. Click Add
Internet configuration.
6. Click the
right arrow
7. Enter “Sonnek
Communications” for the ISP name for the configuration
8. Click on
modem if you are using a modem to dial in.
9. Click the
right arrow.
10. Select the
modem, port and dial type.
11. Click the
right arrow.
12. Enter phone
( if you have call waiting add “*70,” to the beginning
of the number)
For Monticello,
use 763-271-2551
For Big Lake
area, use 763-263-9963
13. Enter your
user name and password, making sure that they are in the correct
case (I.E. upper case or lower case)
14. Press enter
after entering your password
15. Click the
right arrow
16. If you have
been assign a static IP number click Yes and enter the number you
were given, otherwise click on No.
17. Click on
the right arrow
18. Enter DNS
numbers 207.195.208.1
19. Click enter
20. Enter DNS
numbers 207.195.208.2
21. Click enter
22. Enter the
domain name “soncom.com”
23. Click on
the right arrow
24. Enter your
email address (example: yourusername@soncom.com)
25. Enter your
password, making sure to using the correct case ( i.e. lower case
or upper case)
26. Press enter
after entering password
27. Click on
the right arrow
28. Enter your
user name and pop account (example yourusername@pop3.soncom.com)
29. Enter smtp.soncom.com
for the e-mail host
30. Click the
right arrow
31. Enter news.soncom.com
for the newsgroups host
32. Click the
right arrow
33. Click go
ahead
The Internet
configuration will be set up and a test connection will be made.
