How Much Does Pole Fitness Photography Cost in Los Angeles?
Pole fitness photography pricing in Los Angeles is all over the place. Here's an honest breakdown of what you'll actually pay, what should be included, and why the upfront number isn't always the final number.
If you've been searching for a pole fitness photographer in Los Angeles you've probably noticed something pretty quickly. Pricing is all over the place and half the time nobody will just tell you what you're actually going to pay.
So let's fix that.
I'm Rick Feldman, pole fitness and aerial photographer at Black Kat Studios in Los Angeles. I'm going to break down exactly what pole fitness photography costs in this market, what you should expect to be included, and why the number you see upfront isn't always the number you end up paying.
What the Market Looks Like
Pole fitness photography in Los Angeles is a small but growing niche. There are a handful of photographers doing it seriously and the pricing ranges from around $200 to nearly $1,000 depending on what you're getting and what you're not getting.
Here's what you'll typically find out there.
Some photographers charge a session fee that covers your time in front of the camera and nothing else. Images are a completely separate purchase. You pay to show up and then you pay again for the actual photos. Depending on the photographer you might be looking at $50 to $150 per image on top of whatever the session fee was. The upfront price looks reasonable until you do the math on actually walking away with something to show for it.
Others run volume mini session days where multiple clients rotate through a rented studio in 20 to 30 minute slots. The per session price is lower because the photographer is running 6 to 8 clients in a single day. That works for some people but it's a fundamentally different experience than having a photographer whose complete focus is on you and your vision for the entire session.
A smaller number of photographers include images in the session fee with the option to purchase additional images afterward. That's the model that makes the most sense for most people because you know exactly what you're paying before you ever walk through the door.
What Black Kat Studios Charges
I built my pricing to be completely transparent because the hidden fee model is frustrating and it doesn't serve anyone well. Here's exactly what you get.
Solo Session
$750 90 minutes 8 fully edited images included Additional images available at $40 each after the session Professional hair and makeup available at actual cost, no markup Studio rental available at actual cost, no markup
Duo Session
$625 each 90 minutes 8 fully edited images each Additional images $40 each Professional hair and makeup available at actual cost Studio rental split between both of you at actual cost
Mini Session
$300 30 minutes 5 fully edited images included Additional images $40 each Mini sessions are typically offered through studio partnerships where the studio provides the space and brings their students to the session
No session fee with a separate image purchase hidden behind it. No surprise pricing at the reveal. What you see is what you pay.
Breaking Down the Additional Costs
Studio rental and professional hair and makeup are the two variable costs that can affect your total investment depending on what you want and where we're shooting.
Studio rental in Los Angeles for a proper pole photography setup runs roughly $55 to $65 per hour at dedicated aerial and pole studios. A full 90 minute session with setup time typically uses 2 to 3 hours of studio time. I charge that through at actual cost with no markup because it's your studio rental not a profit center for me.
If you have access to your own pole and a location with real character the studio rental question disappears entirely. Some of my favorite sessions have happened in spaces that weren't traditional studios at all. A warehouse, a rooftop, an outdoor location with the right light. If you have a vision for where you want to shoot let's talk about it.
Professional hair and makeup runs $100 to $175 depending on the artist and the complexity of the look. It's entirely optional. Many pole athletes prefer to do their own hair and makeup and that's completely fine. If you want a professional on set I can recommend artists I trust and again that cost passes through at actual cost.
Why Eight Images Is the Right Number
Eight fully edited images might sound modest until you compare it to what other photographers in this space actually deliver for what they charge.
Some include nothing in the session fee. Others include 10 to 24 images but charge $600 to $950 upfront to get there and that's before studio rental.
Eight professionally edited images from a focused 90 minute session gives you a genuinely strong body of work from the day. The images are fully retouched and delivered at high resolution. And if you fall in love with more than eight we have a simple path to get there at $40 per image rather than a surprise packaging reveal at the end.

The Work
Mini Sessions and Studio Partnerships
Mini sessions at $300 for 30 minutes with 5 images are designed around a specific context. I partner with pole and aerial studios to offer photography days exclusively for their students and community. The studio provides the space and the pole. Their students sign up for slots. Everyone walks away with professional images and the studio gets content they can use.
If you run a pole or aerial studio and want to offer this to your students the pricing for studio partnership days is different from public pricing and we should talk directly about what makes sense for your community.
What to Ask Before You Book Anyone
Whether you book with me or someone else these are the questions worth asking before you commit.
Does the session fee include images or is that a separate purchase? How many images are included and what does additional image pricing look like? Is studio rental included in the fee or billed separately? How long is the actual session time? What's the turnaround time on fully edited images? Do you have experience shooting pole and aerial apparatus specifically?
The answers tell you whether the price you're seeing is actually the price you're paying.
Have a Pole and an Amazing Location?
Some of the best sessions happen far outside a traditional studio. If you have access to a pole and a location with real character, whether that's a rooftop, a loft, an outdoor space, or somewhere completely unexpected, let's talk. Bring your vision and I'll bring the lights. When the location is yours the studio rental cost goes to zero and the images tend to be completely unforgettable.
Pole and aerial performers are some of the most creatively fearless people I've had the privilege of working with. If you have a concept you've been sitting on I want to hear it.
